About the Columbus Garden Club

History

The Columbus Garden Club was organized on May 4,1936. The Club was federated with National Garden Clubs and the constitution originally adopted in 1941.

The Club is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes including purposes such as the making distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code

The objectives of the Club shall be to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening among amateurs, to aid in the protection of native trees, plants, birds, and other wildlife, and to encourage civic planting.

Columbus Garden Club members are also members of Texas Garden Club DIstrict IV - Coastal Prairie and National Garden Club's South Central Region

Mission

Our club supports every aspect of gardening through educational programs, community beautification, sharing information and experiences in horticulture and floriculture, and camaraderie among those who are like-minded in their attitude of responsibility of stewardship for our land, natural resources, and nature.

What We Do

We meet monthly from September through May to expand your knowledge of gardening and flowers, share about civic and club activities being planned, and meet new friends, all in the spirit of improving our treasured Columbus community while having fun!

Our goal is to be the source for gardeners and members for everything related to horticulture, landscaping, floral design, and environmental news and issues through local club meetings, district events, and annual state conferences.

Club Prayer

Father, kindle in our hearts an increasing love for creatures of our garden. Quicken our minds to a keener appreciation of Thy lovely gifts. Use our hands as instruments to work Thy divine plan. Tach us that what Thou has given in love is ours to cultivate in faith. Amen.

Club Pledge

As a member of the Columbus Garden Club, I pledge myself to apply my best efforts toward the knowledge and growing of plants and flowers in home beautification and civic improvement.

I agree to support all fundraisers and I agree to follow rules and announcements as set forth by The Club. I will use every effort to attend all meetings of The Club and render any assistance possible toward its success.
