Previous Years' Scholarship  Quilts

One of our talented and dedicated club members, Sharon Heimann, caught the quilt-making bug only a decade ago, but her work is stunning and award-winning. See the most recent scholarship quilt raffled to support our scholarship fund. Enjoy previous years' quilts below.

2024 Scholarship  Quilt

This quilt is a queen size in a stunning pattern called "Carpenter's Apprentice" featuring hand-pieced fabrics in multi-hues of black on white, a beautiful and unexpected combination for a quilt. Below are pictures that include its maker, Sharon Heimann. The quilt is machine-stitched except for the binding that is hand-stitched. The lucky winner of this year's quilt was Kathy Weige of Columbus. Thanks to the entire community for your support as this quilt raised about $3000 that will go to scholarships for Columbus High graduating seniors! Graduating seniors should watch the school's CISD Scholarship Opportunity page for the Columbus Garden Club scholarship application form.

Batik is quite difficult to work with requiring special needles and attention to the quilt-piecing making this quilt more valuable. The quilt is machine-stitched except for the binding that is hand-stitched  A few pictures of the quilt are below, one with its maker, Sharon Heimann.
